BEFORE YOUR IV HYDRATION APPOINTMENT:
Before Your IV Hydration

Should stay well-hydrated by drinking plenty of water.

Eat a light meal. Have a small snack or meal within 2-3 hours before your infusion to prevent lightheadedness or nausea.

Wear clothing with sleeves that can be easily rolled up.

Inform the staff if you have any concerns or a history of feeling faint during blood draws.

Bring necessary information: Provide a full list of medications, supplements, and allergies. (Please provide off of these items on consent form prior to arrival)

Notify provider if you are sick or pregnant: Some infusions may not be recommended under certain conditions.

Relax, relax, relax: IV therapy is safe, quick, and minimally invasive. Our team will ensure your comfort throughout your visit.
DURING YOUR IV HYDRATION SESSION:

You'll be seated comfortably while the infusion is administered.
You may feel a slight pinch during IV insertion; this lasts only a few seconds.
Relax, read, watch tv or listen to music during your session (usually 30-60 minutes)
Let your provider know immediately if you feel discomfort, dizziness, or pain at the IV site.
AFTER YOUR IV HYDRATION TREATMENT
To maximize your results and recovery:

Continue to hydrate: Drink plenty of water throughout the next 24 hours

Eat balanced meals: Support hydration with nutrient -rich foods

Avoid alcohol or strenuous activity: For at least 24 hours post -infusion

Monitor the IV site: Mild tenderness or bruising is normal; apply a cool compress if needed

Avoid touching or scratching the site: Keep the are clean and dry for the rest of the day

Report any concerns: If you experience persistent redness, swelling, pain, or fever, contact our office immediately.
Before Bloodwork
To ensure the best experience and optimal results:

Confirm if fasting is required: Some tests (like glucose, lipid panel, or cholesterol) require fasting for 8–12 hours before your appointment.

If fasting:

Do not eat or drink anything except plain water during the fasting period.
-
Avoid gum, mints, or coffee, even if black — these can alter results.
-
You may take medications as prescribed unless your provider instructs otherwise.

Drink plenty of water before your appointment.

Staying hydrated makes your veins easier to locate and can make the draw faster and more comfortable.
Medications & Supplements

Continue to take your usual medications unless directed otherwise by your provider.

Bring a list of all current medications, supplements, and vitamins to your appointment.

Avoid taking biotin (Vitamin B7) at least 24 hours before testing, as it can interfere with some lab results.
Alcohol, Caffeine, and Exercise

Avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours before your blood draw.

Limit caffeine on the morning of your appointment.
-
Avoid strenuous exercise 24 hours before your test, as it can temporarily affect results.

5. What to Wear & Bring

Wear a short-sleeve or loose-fitting shirt for easy access to your arm.

Bring a photo ID and your insurance information (if applicable).

Bring a snack (like fruit juice or granola bar) if fasting — you can eat it immediately after your draw.
During the Blood Draw

Relax your arm and take deep breaths — the process usually lasts just a few minutes.

If you tend to feel dizzy or faint, let the phlebotomist know beforehand so they can assist you.

7. After the Blood Draw
-
Apply gentle pressure to the puncture site for a few minutes.
-
Keep your bandage on for at least 30 minutes.
-
Avoid heavy lifting or strenuous arm activity for the rest of the day.
-
Drink water and have a snack afterward to help your body recover.
